Hiya, I’m Shan.
I’m a tax technology specialist and builder based in London. Over the past 18 years I’ve worked across tax advisory (KPMG), financial services (Morgan Stanley), global tax transformation (Unilever), and most recently I was the Tax Technology Lead at Deliveroo, delivering cross-functional tax technology projects and products with engineering teams. My work spans indirect tax, direct tax, and transfer pricing, from designing operating models and control frameworks to shipping production systems.
I’m a Chartered Accountant (ICAS) and Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA) Fellow (CIOT), sit on the Council of the Chartered Institute of Taxation, and co-created CIOT’s Diploma in Tax Technology and their AI for Tax courses. I host the DITT Talk podcast.
I believe tax functions will fundamentally change in how they operate, and technology is what makes that possible. I write about that shift for tax professionals navigating it, and I build tools and products to prove it. This site is where I share both. You can browse them all in the timeline below or explore my Quests.
Outside of tax, I’ve translated and published three books in mainland China and travelled to 52 countries, mostly solo. In 2022 I completed the Product Foundry programme at Plus X Brighton (an EU-funded innovation lab), where I learned digital fabrication, electronics prototyping, and physical product design. I’ve been building with 3D printers, laser cutters, industry sewing machines and microcontrollers since. I’m usually making something.
