I am Shan Sun. I advise tax teams on technology, build review products, and write and talk about what is changing where tax meets AI.
I learned the trade inside other people’s organisations: KPMG, Morgan Stanley, BDO, Omnicom, then leading tax innovation at Unilever and tax technology at Deliveroo/DoorDash. In March 2026 I went out on my own.
I am a Chartered Tax Adviser (Fellow), a chartered accountant, a Council member at the Chartered Institute of Taxation and co-creator of its Diploma in Tax Technology and AI for Tax course. I host the DITT Talk podcast. I have been writing about tax technology and AI governance regularly here.

Outside of tax, I’m a published translator and have travelled to 50+ countries, mostly solo. In 2022 I completed the Product Foundry programme at Plus X Brighton (an EU-funded innovation lab), where I learned digital fabrication with 3D printers, laser cutters and sewing machines, electronics prototyping, and physical product design. I’m usually experimenting or making something off the clock. I swim, ski and dive.
